GPSC announces five social innovation projects from the GPSC Young Social Innovator 2019 event. In its second year, the event saw over 200 projects submitted by educational institutions nationwide racing to win awards for pilot projects using local resources and energy development for use in communities.
Mr. Sirimet Leepagorn, Executive Vice President, Asset Management of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT group, revealed today (November 3, 2019) that the company has announced the results of projects that have passed the final round of GPSC Young Social Innovator 2019 under the theme “Sustainable Energy, Natural resource and Environment”. The event saw five projects by high school and vocational students passing through to the final round. The students will receive certificates and funding to develop the project and provide knowledge in various areas such as innovation using local resources, which will lead to the efficient use of energy and being environmentally friendly.
The GPSC Young Social Innovator 2019 project is in its second year, accepting students from across the country. Over 200 projects have been submitted, with 30 passing the first round of selections. Of the total, four projects are from the northern region, seven from the central region, six from the northeast region, nine from the eastern region and four from the south of Thailand. A total of five projects passed the final round. The results will be announced in 2020. The winners will receive a trophy and a BHT50,000 scholarship. The runner up will receive a trophy and a BHT30,000 scholarship, while the three consolations prizes will receive a trophy and BHT10,000 scholarship.

“This project is to create an opportunity for young people to use their creativity to design projects and to use knowledge in various areas to develop inventions, products or methods to solve social, economic, nature resource and environmental problems towards sustainability. This will lead to the development of a pilot project that will be used to solve problems and for the products to be commercially produced for the market in order to develop into social enterprises,” Mr. Sirimet said.
The project is in line with the company’s policy in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in promoting Thai children and youth to learn the value of resources that will lead to improving the quality of life of communities and sustainable environment protection.
