GPSC conducts its first ESS pilot installation at PTT Station, Wang Noi Research Center Branch.

GPSC is in full force to commercially install its ESS, starting off with its pilot installation at the PTT Station and Café Amazon Wang Noi Research Center Branch in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Following this first PTT Station operated by OR, two additional PTT Stations with the ESS installation are scheduled to be ready for service in the first quarter of 2020. The move aims to build on the solar rooftop installation project, in order to offer ‘Smart Energy Solution’. Convinced that the ESS helps increase efficiency and reduce energy costs for petrol stations, GPSC plans to further target industries and enterpreneurs that require using renewable energy for utmost operational efficiency, as well as to promote and develop household knowledge, and enhance access to innovative power technologies.

Sirimet Leepagorn, Executive Vice President – Asset Management of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that following the agreement signing between GPSC and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited or OR for the feasibility study of the solar-powered electricity generation and the renewable energy management system in the form of digital platform, by means of solar rooftop installation at the PTT Station and Café Amazon branches, GPSC has launched the Energy Storage System (ESS) Installation Pilot Project for commercial purposes, with its debut installation at the PTT Station and Café Amazon Wang Noi Research Center Branch in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. To study and develop the Smart Energy Solution system, the company plans to install the ESS at two additional PTT Station and Café Amazon branches – namely, PTT Station Min Buri branch and PTT Station Jomtien Pattaya branch in the first quarter of 2020.

The Smart Energy Solution system, which consists of a solar rooftop and the ESS, is customized by GPSC – taking into account the building structure, on which the rooftop solar panels will be installed, as well as the estimated electricity consumption requirement.

“The ESS installation is PTT Group’s proprietary model for energy storage system technology and its development. This model is aimed at creating operational potentials for power innovation, establishing PTT Group as the leader in efficient integration of the ESS with renewable energy, and supporting expansion for commercial use in the future.”

In addition, GPSC has joined with PTT Innovation Institute in designing and developing the ESS, as well as the mobile software to remotely control the ESS for electricity management. In order to reduce electricity costs in petrol stations, the software will collect data of electricity consumption in real time, with alternative selection of electricity supply source – either from the ESS or the power grid according to specific duration, at the time when the electricity cost is increased, or at peak time of the day. Information collected during operations, will be stored on the Cloud Server for efficient access to usage data.

“Apart from the ESS, GPSC has also installed temperature control equipment, cooling system, and safety protection system according to specified standards. All installations are thoroughly tested, to ensure users’ ultimate safety,” concluded Mr. Sirimet.
